Norwich Terrier
History and Background
The Norwich Terrier is a small breed originating in England, in the city of Norwich in the county of Norfolk. The breed was developed in the 19th century as a hunting dog for rodents and foxes, and was popular among students at the University of Cambridge. Initially, the Norwich Terrier was considered the same breed as the Norfolk Terrier, but in 1964 the breeds were separated on the basis of ear shape: the Norwich Terrier has erect ears, while the Norfolk Terrier has drop ears.
