Aidi
History and Background
The Aidi is a dog breed originating in Morocco, particularly in the Atlas Mountains region. The breed was developed by the Berber tribes as a guarding and protection dog for flocks of sheep against predators such as jackals and wildcats. In addition, the Aidi was used for hunting in cooperation with Sloughi dogs; the Aidi located the prey using its well-developed sense of smell, while the Sloughi chased it down. The Aidi is known for its courage, alertness and loyalty to its owner.
