Canaan Dog
History and Background
The Canaan Dog is the only pedigree breed originating in the Land of Israel, and is also known as the “Canaan Wolf” and the “Land of Israel Shepherd”. The breed was common in the region since Biblical times, and appears in wall paintings at archaeological sites thousands of years old. In the past, the Canaan Dogs were used by the Bedouin for guarding, herding and protecting their tents.
