Keeshond
History and Background
Keeshond is a Dutch dog breed originating from northern Spitz breeds, formerly used as a watchdog on canal barges in the Netherlands and Europe. During the 18th century, the Keeshond became a symbol of the Patriots’ movement in the Netherlands and was associated with the political ideology of the leader Cornelis “Kees” de Gyselaer. The breed became beloved by Dutch families thanks to its friendly nature and impressive appearance, with its thick coat and intelligent face.
